Vicetone
Since 2012, Vicetone has built a reputation for consistently delivering addictive melodies and pushing the creative bounds of dance music. Infectiously melodic and energetic, the distinct Vicetone sound has earned Dutch DJ/Producer duo Ruben den Boer and Victor Pool over 1 billion streams, multiple Platinum and Gold records, and a loyal global fanbase. Their untamed passion and creativity infuses all their output, from recorded music to exhilarating live shows performed at top festivals and clubs around the world. While still in college, the childhood friends released their debut record “Harmony” and were quickly launched to global notoriety – within the year they landed a spot on DJ Mag’s prestigious Top 100 DJ list and began touring globally. Vicetone has since brought their brand of emotionally charged dance music to their 2021 album “Legacy”, and hits like “Nevada” and “Something Strange”, a #1 chart-topper on Sirius BPM. Their viral hit “Astronomia” became a TikTok phenomenon and a bona fide stadium anthem, currently streaming over 1 million plays per day. At the core of Ruben and Victor’s musical partnership lies a duality that fuels their creative process; as Ruben explains, "One thing that’s become more and more apparent from working together for so long is that Victor is drawn toward happy songs, while I gravitate toward the darker and more melancholic songs." This dynamic tension is on full display in their latest EP “Departing Reality”, which features four evocative singles with broad emotional range. “We named it Departing Reality because each record feels like total escapism, like you’re floating away in a different world,” explains Ruben. The EP was released on July 21st 2023, and supported by the ‘Departing Reality Tour’ featuring stops in Asia, Europe, and North America. The creative synergy between Ruben and Victor was evident from the very beginning of their collaboration. Driven by a shared passion for groundbreaking dance music, at 19 they set up a makeshift home studio from secondhand speakers and DIY acoustic paneling to bring their musical visions to life. Their dedication and talent quickly caught the attention of audiences, leading to performances at festivals across Europe and Asia, including Dream Station Seoul and iconic venues like the Hanoi Opera House. With releases on influential record labels like Ultra, Spinnin’ Records, Armada Music, and Monstercat, Vicetone solidified their position as trailblazers in the electronic music scene. The duo relocated to Nashville in 2017 where they designed two state-of-the-art studios in their home – the perfect creative environment and a testament to their musical commitment. With multiple studio setups, Victor and Ruben maintain a highly collaborative working style with fiber-speed connectivity between their workstations, enabling constant communication and idea-sharing. Aside from their shared musical endeavors, Ruben and Victor also connect through their mutual love for video games. They consider gaming to be an essential part of the bond they formed as teenagers, giving them an opportunity to escape reality and tap into their childlike curiosity. This mindset translates into their music-making process, allowing them to be playful and creative with their compositions. Vicetone's journey has been one of relentless passion, unwavering dedication, and constant evolution. With each release, they push the boundaries of their sound, captivate audiences worldwide, and leave an indelible mark on the electronic music landscape. Vicetone will continue to explore new sonic territories and enchant listeners with their melodies for many years to come.
