• What does Monstercat Gold mean by "content creator friendly music," or "claim free music"?

  Monstercat Gold's subscription offers content creators thousands of songs to use "claim free" in content. This means that content creators can stream, or play, the music offered through our service, and Monstercat will not claim your advertising revenue.

• Will Monstercat "strike" my content?

  NO! Monstercat will not copyright strike your channel(s). However, if you use Monstercat music without a Gold subscription, you'll receive a claim from us. This will not harm your channel, but it means that advertising revenue from your video will go to the label and the artist(s) involved with the song.

• I want to use Monstercat's music in my videos/streams. What are the basics I need to know?

  When using our music in your videos/streams, creators must abide by the following terms (whether you have a license or not):

  • No Nightcore versions of our tracks
  • No Bass Boosted or otherwise altered versions of our tracks
  • No looping of our tracks (1 hour, 10 hour, etc.)
  • No file sharing links or free downloads of any kind may be provided
  • Users are not permitted to use our registered Monstercat word or design trademarks as their channel name or icon
  • Users must abide by and follow all platform Terms of Service and Community Guidelines

  Although we offer thousands of songs through Monstercat Gold, not all Monstercat label releases are available for use with a content creator license. For more information on what is excluded from our licensing offering, click here.

• What are "Non-Licensable" tracks?

  Non-Licensable tracks are tracks that cannot be used in your content, even with a Gold subscription. You can see the list of tracks here.

  Monstercat Gold also has a built-in feature that will allow you to automatically skip tracks that are non-licensable. Log into your account, click the "Account" tab, and check the Skip Non-licensable Tracks box. And you're ready to go!

• As a corporate entity, am I allowed to take advantage of the Content Creator License?

  As a corporate entity, am I allowed to take advantage of the Content Creator License?

  No, Monstercat Gold is available for individual licenses only. Commercial/corporate entities must purchase a Commercial License.

• With a Gold subscription, can I include Monstercat music in an advertisement or video with a paid product placement?

  No, this would be considered commercial use and the sponsoring company would need to purchase a Commercial License.

• I own multiple streaming channels. How many channels am I allowed to add to Monstercat Gold?

  Monstercat Gold currently allows users to add up to 6 Twitch or YouTube channels to their account. When adding channels, you must verify you are the original owner of that channel.

  Sharing account access with friends or other users is against our terms and may result in the removal/ban of your account.

• Can I purchase a license for my music promotion channel?

  Music promotion channels of any sort are not eligible to use Monstercat Gold. If you would like to promote Monstercat music on your channel please contact us and request that we add your channel to our allowlist for promotional purposes.

• If I've just purchased a license, will copyright claims on my previous videos be automatically removed?

  Buying a license does NOT remove any existing claims. If you receive a claim from Monstercat on a video uploaded while Gold is/was active, you can manually remove the claims using our Claim Release page here.

• Is crediting required when I have a Content Creator License?

  Crediting is not required when you have a Gold subscription, but we (and the artists) appreciate any provided! If you do not have a Gold subscription, you must provide credit.

• How do I properly credit a song in my description?

  For YouTube:

  Unfortunately, Monstercat Shop Gift Cards cannot be used towards the purchasing of a Gold subscription.

• How long will it take for my Channel to be added to the allowlist?

  Once you subscribe to Gold and enter your channel ID, you should be good to go almost immediately!

• What if a platform I use is not listed?

  Monstercat Gold only supports content on YouTube and Twitch. If you would like to feature Monstercat music in a video on another platform or website, you will need a Commercial Sync License. Email [email protected] and we can help you out, often within 48 hours.

• How do I get the music?

  Sign into your Monstercat Gold account and listen to music directly from our webplayer. Monstercat Gold allows for full high-quality track downloads of our catalog, as well as early streaming access to new songs.

• How do I download music? What formats are available?

  Simply search for the track you want to download here and click the download button.

  To choose your preferred download format (we offer MP3, FLAC, or WAV files), go to the Account page and edit "Preferred Download Format" under Settings.

• If I received a claim even though I already purchased a license, what do I do?

  Sometimes YouTube accidentally claims videos on channels that have a license. Don't panic -- this WILL NOT hurt your channel!

  If this happens, you can manually release the claim from our Claim Release page here. Make sure you are logged into your Monstercat.com account when you are releasing the claims.

• Can I change my YouTube/Twitch ID?

  If you'd like to change your ID, simply log in, visit the Licenses tab in the Gold account menu, delete your ID and add a new one.

• How do I change my payment information?

  “In the “Gold Subscription” tab under “My User Settings” you can add new payment options under “Manage or Cancel Subscription” and link new payment options to your Gold subscription."

• How do I change my plan? (From monthly to annual, or annual to monthly)

  To change your plan go to monstercat.com/settings/gold-subscription. Within the Xsolla payment section click on "Manage Subscriptions", then under "Your Subscriptions" click on "Details" of your current subscription. Underneath the "Subscription Details" section there is an option to "Change Plan". If you do not see this option it is because you may have already changed your plan in the same day.

• How do I cancel my license/subscription?

  You can cancel your subscription by signing in to your Monstercat.com account and going to "My User Settings" in the side menu. Then navigate to the "Gold Subscription" section and click on "Manage or Cancel Subscription".

• What happens to my old content if I unsubscribe?

  We’re sorry to see you go! Content published during the time of your subscription may continue to exist Claim Free (as defined in our Terms of Service) so long as you adhere to all Monstercat’s prescribed music crediting requirements. Content published after the final billing cycle of your subscription ends will cease to be on a Claim Free basis.
