Harvey

"Harvey is a singer-songwriter currently based in Denver, CO. She is known for blending electronic sounds with sensual ‘air-like’ vocal melodies. Having began an artistic path as a dancer and graduating with a BFA in dance performance, Harvey's approach to creating music is not much different from how she creates choreography. ‘Take an idea and run with it’. There is a lot of improvisation involved in her creative process, so much so that it is normal for her to begin a project with no clear direction.

Much like an improvisational dance score, Harvey enjoys having the freedom to make musical choices within a set of guidelines that she provides herself. Whether this be a certain theme, a repeating element, creating lyrics that are visually appealing, etc., her process relies heavily on Intuitive awareness and freedom of thought.

Unraveling the meaning of a song as she goes is half of the fun, not to mention eye opening and therapeutic for her. Similar to a diary, writing meaningful lyrics requires nonjudgmental introspection. Being comfortable with yourself is one thing, but the vulnerability it takes to release that entry to the public can be a bit daunting. Perhaps it is the hope that someone else may relate and find relief from listening that fuels her courage. For Harvey, the catharsis that comes with creating and the closure she may feel after finishing a project is all the reason she needs to continue on her journey as a musician."
