Board Game Update
· Announcements
Hello everyone! Colin & Dan here from Monstercat with an update on the board game we''ve been working on.
Our SHUX 19 Experience
Back in October of last year Dan I set up a table in the Indie Avenue of the Shut Up and Sit Down Expo. It''s a board game convention here in Vancouver. We had a blast and made good progress on the game, which you can read about here.
Gameplay Changes
Since our last update in August we''ve made some changes to how songs and dancers work. The previous version had you playing a single song to a dancer, with the goal of playing to multiple dancers to connect them.
The new game has you playing multiple songs at once to form a set. When you play a set you choose a dancer to play to, and the colours of the songs you play must match the dancer you play to. If all of your songs have the same tempo you''ll get a bonus for playing in sync!
Here are some recent dancer prototypes:
Mix Board
If the songs in your hand aren''t exactly what you want, that''s when you use your Mix Board. The Mix Board lets you change the colour and/or tempo of songs in your set. If the dancer you want to play to needs Blue, Red, and Green songs and you only have Blue, Red, and Yellow, you can use the Mix Board to change your Yellow into a Green. If your songs are tempo 4, 4, and 3, you can bump that 3 up to a four. You can''t use your Mix Board infinitely, so choose how you mix your sets well.
Below are some pictures of various prototypes of the Mix Board.
